What does Privacy Shield do?
Privacy Shield is designed to "shield" your privacy by cleaning up all the unwanted history data on your computer. With only one click, Privacy Shield allows you to erase the cache, cookies, history, typed URLs, autocomplete memory, index.dat of your browser, run history, recent documents, etc. With Privacy Shield's plugins, you can easily erase the tracks of up to 39 applications, such as playlist of Realplayer, Mediaplayer, QuickTime, recent files of Office, Acrobat, Winzip, etc.

What is the Plugin?
There are so many applications/programs that keep tracks of your recent activities such as Mediaplayer, Realplayer, Acrobat, Winzip, and much much more. Others can see what files you have opened, what video you have watched and what pictures you have viewed. Removing these stored activities will further help protect your privacy. With Privacy Shield's plugins, you can easily erase the tracks of these popular applications. We currently offer 39 plugins which supports the most popular programs such as ACDSee, Acrobat, Microsoft Office, ICQ, Media Player, Winzip, and etc.

What is Stealth Mode?
Stealth Mode allows Privacy Shield to operate in an invisible mode. This will hide the icon so it will no longer be visible in the system tray and toolbar. In Stealth Mode, the program can still perform cleaning operation at the scheduled time. You can press the CTRL+ALT+U keys to unhide Privacy Shield.

What is HotKey?
The HotKey feature lets you perform the selected operations immediately by pressing the HotKey CTRL+ALT+H.

·Hide Privacy Shield (press hotkey CTRL+ALT+U to unhide)
·Run Cleaning Operations
·Minimize all Windows
·Log Off Current User
·Shutdown Windows

It's very useful when you are viewing some website, and someone, (e.g. your boss or everyone else you don't want to see your screen), walks in. You can just press the CTRL+ALT+H keys to hide your activities.

Why do the some browser history still there after cleaning?
You should close all the browser windows before cleaning, because the files can not be deleted when they are in use. For MSN, AOL and Netscape 7, even you close all the windows of them, they may not be closed completely. Please check the system tray (lower right area of the screen) to see if there is an icon of them, if you can find, click on it to close it.

Why the index.dat file still exist after I clean them?
Index.dat stores information about what websites you have visited and what cookies have been saved, the index.dat files are always locked by the system when Windows is running and can not be deleted. Privacy Shield overwrites these index.dat files with meaningless characters, so others can see nothing useful from these files after cleaning.

Why the Windows Media Player playlist are still there after I choose to clear them?
You might have been running Windows Media Player while you were erasing tracks from it, because Media Player will save the playlist again when it exits.
Note: It is strongly recommended that you shut down all the programs that you want to erase tracks from, because some tracks can not be erased when these programs are running .

Can Privacy Shield clean my Windows automatically when I start my computer?
Go to the Advanced Tab in Privacy Shield, make sure the "Load Privacy Shield on Windows Startup" and "Do Cleaning on Privacy Shield Startup" checkboxes are checked.

Can Privacy Shield clean my Windows automatically when I shut it down?

Please also note that in order for cleaning to take place when you shutdown your Windows, you must leave Privacy Shield running when you shut down.
