Browser Settings

Clear Browser History

Clear all of the day-by-day history (not including browser bookmarks or favorites) from Internet Explorer, the history will be immediately erased. You can select which IE Histories you want to clear and which one you want to keep by clicking the Keep button.
Note: The older versions of Internet Explorer do not allow the History to be completely erased.

Clear Cache (IE/NS Temporary Internet Files)
Clear all of the browser saved web pages, images, and videos. You can avoid others determining the pages you have been recently viewing by erasing these files.

Clear Cookies
Clear all of the saved cookies files. Cookies is used for keeping track of your on-line sessions, such as auto-login function. You can select which Cookies you want to clear and which one you want to keep by clicking the Keep button.

Clear Visited URL
Clear the list of recently visited URLs stored in the Index.dat file.

Clear Typed URL

Clear the typed URL data stored by Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer stores the typed URLs for auto-completion function, it would suggest some matching URLs once you typed the first few characters in the address bar. You can select which Typed URL you want to clear and which one you want to keep by clicking the Keep button.

Clear Locked Index.dat Files (All)
Clear all of the locked Index.dat files. Index.dat file stores information about what web sites you have visited and what cookies have been saved. The index.dat files are always LOCKED during a windows session and can not be deleted, so Privacy Shield will overwrite these index.dat files with meaningless characters. Others can see nothing useful from these files after cleaning.

Clear AutoComplete Forms Data

Clear the AutoComplete Forms data stored by Internet Explorer. Please note that erasing AutoComplete Forms data will erase all entries typed into Internet Explorer Forms that are currently automatically recalled by Internet Explorer after you type a few letters of a word. For example, email logins.

Clear AutoComplete Passwords
Clear the AutoComplete Passwords data stored by Internet Explorer. Please note that erasing AutoComplete Passwords data will erase all entries typed into Internet Explorer Password fields that are currently automatically recalled by Internet Explorer when a password is needed. For example, email password.

Clear AOL Visited URLs
Clear the list of recently visited URLs (stored by AOL). This is a list of web sites that you visited recently that is stored as part of AOL's history.
Note: This settings is only applicable if you use AOL to access the Internet

Clear AOL Temporary Files
Clear the copies of the web pages stored by AOL. This is a folder where AOL stores copies of web pages that you have visited to make them open faster the next time you visit them.
Note: This settings is only applicable if you use AOL to access the Internet


Windows Settings

Clear Start Menu > Recent Documents List

Clear the list of last 15 document files that you have accessed. This can prevent others from determining which documents you may have recently opened or edited.

Clear Start Menu > Run History

Clear the list of items previously run from the start menu. This can prevent others from seeing items you may have executed before, such as "cmd".
Note: You will need to reboot your windows in order to delete the run history.

Clear Start Menu > Find Files/Folders
Clear the list of Files/Folders that you have recently searched for. This can prevent others from seeing Files/Folders you may have searched for.

Clear Windows Temporary Files
Clear the Windows temporary directory (usually located at C:\Windows\temp).

Clear Recycle Bin
Clear all of the files/folders that are contained in the Recycle Bin.
Note: This cleans all the Recycle Bins on all drives on your computer.

Clear Windows Clipboard
Clear the data that has been "Copy" into the Windows clipboard. This can prevent others from "Paste" something you have copied before, such as a text or picture.

Clear Email Histories (Outlook / Netscape)
Clear the email histories stored by Outlook or Netscape.
